Nicky Henderson

Nicky Henderson, born in 1990, Edinburgh, UK, is a painter best known for his abstract and portraiture work. His creative process centres around the battle between chance and control, from which his energetic yet meditative paintings are born through a series of spontaneous reactions reliant on intuition. Drawing cues from the seminal work of Gerhard Richter, Henderson’s abstract techniques continuously evolve through extreme experimentation using custom hand-made tools, chemicals and materials that create unique effects and textures.

Henderson is also an accomplished portrait painter, specialising in both photo-realistic and abstract styles. Most notably, his portrait of Sir Patrick Geddes was personally presented to HRH Prince Charles as part of the permanent collection of Riddle's Court in Edinburgh.

Henderson’s work has been exhibited in both solo and group exhibitions in the UK and in major corporate offices, including Google HQ in Mountain View, California. His work is also held in private collections around Europe, the USA, Asia and Australia. Henderson primarily lives and works in Edinburgh, UK.
