Ranjith Perera's passion for painting started at a young age of 10 when he was captivated by the breathtaking natural scenery while traveling from Colombo to Kandy. However, life circumstances paved the way for a career in the rubber trade, and he found himself with hardly any time to pursue painting. Following early retirement, he finally got the opportunity to pursue his passion for painting. Under the guidance of Nadine David, former pupil of the internationally renowned David Paynter, he reformed and honed his technique.

Perera's art is a tribute to Sri Lanka's vibrant cultural heritage, documenting the country's pulse through its animals, places, and people. His works are characterized by their realistic depiction of Sri Lankan life, showcasing its vibrancy and strength.

“Painting and drawing from life is my first love. Sri Lankans and their
pastimes fascinate me. The agony and the ecstasy, their simplicity
reflected in their faces make marvelous subjects for my canvases."
